What was done this November....

Image
OK, here it is.  I think this has been my best month ever because many of my BOM's (block of a month) quilts came up.  In other words, the blocks are finished and I have to put it together.  So although I said I would finish a quilt that was over 3 years old, with the other BOMs showing up, I had finished I felt the need to do those before the 3 year one....  It's that late so, what's a few more months  ;).   So lets see from my list of things to do for November what I got done: Globetrotting by Pat Sloan .   - DONE  and I love it.  Made an extra one of the center because I loved it so much.  Once more, the colors just don't make it on the camera, this is purple and green.  Below the square is 24". Quilt Doodle Designs - done!!!  Great for Christmas Debbit Mumm's Quilt of Honor - DONE with the top, need to quilt it! cat likes it Crafty 2012 BOM  - Not done yet.  Have one to go and then the quilt is done.  It's one

Quilting like crazy last two weeks...

Now I've done it!!!  I joined a group stating I would finish seven different quilts by the end of December, and what do I do?  Start a new one!!  Jeeze!!!  I'm nuts!!! I have finished  a couple another BOM, this one by Debbie Mum  called Honor Star.  This one was great, it was a number of blocks every two months.  Manageable and fun to do.  Take a look at the results. My quilting Buddie Two Styles of Blocks every 2nd month 4 blocks each one. The borders will be white. But that's not the only thing that I did.  I started a new one as well.  I'm really getting into modern style quilting.  This pattern is by Allie Health.  I saw it in Modern Patchwork Winter 2014 magazine. I really love it.  Started to quilt it this weekend as well. Take a look.  I'm very happy with how it turned out.  Sorry for the darkness of some of the picture but I took this at night, which is usually when I finish something. Need to use my camera instead of my iPad.  It's

Here I am in the middle of November (well at least Nov 11) and   Van Gogh - Woman Sewing I haven't done my "Things to do" list.  I'm such a list person.  I not only have that but I have a list from a previous post saying what I will be doing for Globetrotting by Pat Sloan .  Makes a 9 block quilt like a sampler.  But it's done, and I love the colours!!!  Check it out under the tags to see what it looked like in the end. Quilt Doodle Designs and Cindy had a fantastic BOM (apparently this is the 2nd and the 1st was fantastic as well).  It's a Christmas Quilt, and I'm all done for Christmas.  That's so great!!!  See "Doodle" tag to see all the entries.   Debbit Mumm's Quilt of Honor  that is a manly military quilt.  I have the corner/stars to complete, but all blocks are completed.  It's a matter of putting things together and making the sashing.   ViceVersa -  I'm two blocks behind and now I have to finish it off.  So

November's "ALYOF" - this one is three years old.

Talk about not finishing your homework!!!  My mother sent me money and I bought a kit at a quilting store that is no longer open.  Now that is sad because I loved that store and the owner, but due to medical reasons she had to close in Abbottsford.  So I don't want to show the pattern too closely.  I want it to be a surprise.  The colours are all pastel pinks and greens mostly.  Very feminine.  The quilt is queen size.  The green in the picture  is for the sides, the pinks are for the finish, and I need to quilt and bind the entire thing.   That should take a month  ;)

Mug Rug Exchanged completed.

Mailed and waiting for the reply!!!  I joined a mug rug exchange with international connections because I wanted to meet new people and I did!!  A lovely woman named Jenni from Tasmania, Australia.  I've already learned so much from her.  She introduced me to siggy blocks.  See this link to understand it more.  She exchanges with people around the world.  It's my first time exchanging blocks and to exchange mug rugs was fun.  There was a pattern but you can make it more individual.  Here they are... Mug rug #1 Mug rug #2 Enough room for your coffee/tea and a cookie and easy to wash.  I loved how they turned out.  One spring and one summer.  Love the butterfly on the one.  Can't wait to see the ones Jenni made!!  I sent her a few bonus items (stitch ripper, colour pencil, Canadian buttons, and a few more happy thoughts).  She sent me some post cards showing me where she lives (one is so cute - this really scarey looking animal I've never seen before),

Finished two more BOM's.

As we all know I started 9 BOM's at the start of January and although I could not keep up all of them, I did do fairly well with most.  Now it's a matter of finishing them.  So what two did I finish this week?  Pat Sloan's Globe Trotting Quilt, and Quilt Doodle's Christmas quilt. Christmas light row completed!!!  Fancy stitching. Doodle Quilt Globe Trotter   Side View - large lap top (about a Double) Loved the center design so much I decided to make it for the quilt challenge for my Quilting Guild.   Purple and Green All the way through taking pictures of this quilt I tried to get the right colours and I still can't.  It's the gold thread throughout.  But it is fantastic with the gold throughout and the deep purple for contrast.  Do love how it turned out (the big one as well).  Almost calling you to shine.  ;)
