OMG with the UFOs that are OMG challenges!!!!

Well, I can't believe how much I got done this month what with everything else my husband and I were doing (walks consist of 10,000 to 15,000 a day - boy are my feet tired!!!), all the hikes in different parks, and around the neighborhood.  But in between I was sewing trying to get my scraps down and this is where they all ended up in.  In the Covid Scrap Quilt.  I linked up with Elm Street Quilts who is part of the OMG goals.  Thanks for doing that.  

So here's where I linked up to say what I was going to do and showed an example of a string quilt that I already did.  Then I showed what was completed so far.  (not much).  

Why did I start this?  I went through all of my scraps which were four containers and one large container of orphan blocks.  They were taking up so much space in my office that I had to do something.  Thus the quilt.  It started with using the fabric crumbs to make about 2 meters of fabric but I continued on with the crumbs from my scraps, and the crumbs that appeared from the string quilt.  From there, more string blocks (about 18 more) and by then I was fed up of both crumb making as well as strips.  While going through all the scraps I also found some orphan blocks.  So I decided to add those as well. 

In the end I ended up using the QAYG methods, as well as I decided to use my quilting rulers to practise.  Overall I had such fun doing this quilt, believe it or not.  Here is what it looks like:

It's a queen and it's hard to see what it's finished off with different color binding, and it's attached with black around it.  Look at all the pieces.  You can't believe it can you....  I can't believe it.  Crumble in the middle, strips on each side, and the top row is all the orphan blocks.

One I missed and another done

Summer is almost over

 And I’ve been able to get some painting and sewing in.  I have completed some baby quilts, made some gifts and cleaned my room after my bookcase collapsed.  Yeah you heard right, my IKEA bookcase (with drawers) stretched out and the shelves came tumbling down.  Too many sewing/painting/quilting books and paints in it.  Out with that old and in with a used steamer trunk that I redid.  Final product are the 1st couple of pictures.  Even used wood glue for cracks. Redid with restick wall paper that is waterproof.   All my supplies The crack that I wood glued. The start that took about 2hours. The finish product that has projects in containers, and fabric for sewing clothes.  It worked well. Then I had some things that are just in a tray that I needed to fix.  So I completed these projects that were small and almost done. Been busy again

 With a few UFOs done.  They are Cat Approved. Both of these have gone to the hospital's children's ward. Yes they are identical.  The material was given to me two years ago, with the blocks already done. I just finished it off and binded it. This one is a Joanne's Kit from 5 years ago, before Covid.  The kit contained all the material and the pattern, but some of the material had been changed and that's why the discount.  The kit was $20.  For all the top material.  What a steal!!! Simple quilting in the ditch and some echoing. My husband loves the colors.  Perfect for a guy.  I was going to give this away but the hubby said no, it's perfect for our house, so it's staying.
