Went to a Quilting Retreat

It was at Harrison Hot Springs.  It was also my first retreat so I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into.  I was on a waiting list, and someone cancelled so I was roomed with someone I did not know, but we met before the retreat, talked, were compatible (she's was really a nice person, really great and welcoming), and so I decided to go.

It was better than I expected.  Here's some of the view:

There are 5 pools, one from the Springs.

The room was lovely with two queen beds, and a balcony with a view of the lake.  The meals (breakfast and supper) were buffet style, and lovely with a variety of choices.  I really appreciated the salmon and all the salads.

As for the sewing, I had my own large table, able to space out.  They had 8 irons set up, 6 large tables to cut and pin your quilt, and space galore.  I really appreciated the set up, the lovely look of the hotel, and the service of the staff.  All together, I am DEFINITELY going again.

The results of 3 days two nights (I had to leave early):

I started this one with 6 blocks completed, I needed to have 40.  I made the flimsy.  I added the black borders to make it larger and quilted it today at home.  Straight stitch in the ditch, so I was happy with how it held the quilt together.  Look at all those strips.  The quilt is called Pick Up Sticks Petal Noir by Monique Dillard and it features Boundless Petal Noir jelly roll from Boundless Fabrics.

I also had some time to put together another 3 cabin blocks and sewed groups of 4 blocks together.  After talking to my roomie Jill, she helped me to place the blocks (of both quilts) and get the idea right about the log cabin blocks.  It's going to be gorgeous.  That's next on the list of things to do.

As for all the rest that I've done this month, that's for another blog story.  Night every one.
