September's OMG

The month of August was great for me, where I got tired of looking at so many UFO's.  My sewing room is still so full of stuff, and it frustrates me when I'm sewing, so I've decided to get as many of the UFOs done as possible.  That's were Elm Street Quilts and the One Monthly Goal comes into play. I listed my Sewology Quilt, got that one done and also completed the goal that I had for July which was my Snowflake quilt (another queen as well).  See the entry here.....

So what's next?  Another UFO BOM (wow, all these acronyms....).  This one was done by my favorite quilt designer Sew Fresh Quilts.  She made a BOM for Harry Potter fans.  And although I'm not a crazy, crazy fan of Harry Potter, I do so love her designs so much, I just had to do it!!!  Guess what?  YES!!!  Another queen.  But for this quilt I've been doing "Quilt as you Go", so it's more than half done.

Here is the design

Isn't it fantastic?!!!  I got the 2nd and 3rd row done, and the hook up date is this September.  So I need to start putting a rush on it.

They're quilted now, need to take a picture and share of the connection.  I have a 2nd group of friends who we put together for a small guild, and it was with them that I started this quilt, they're cheering me on to finish it.  So that's my goal.....  Finish Harry off  ;)

Summer 2019 is winding down....

Well, it's soon back to school and that means that I'll be very busy in a month's time, trying to find time to quilt.  But because I was crazy crazy busy in May and June, I've been trying to catch up on a number of my BOM's.  And while no one was looking (anyone out there????) I got caught up in two more BOM's.  Really, am I crazy or what?

So one of them which I am enjoying so much because I'm doing nothing but using scraps, that I've got caught up in a lot of the blocks (two per month - sometimes three) with "A Time for All Seasons" by Sew Incredibly Crazy.  I love this girl, the designs are so delicious, and so much fun to do.  If you're into applique they have one a month, and if you're not the other block is always a traditional style block to do.  Don't believe me?  Give it a look yourself...

16 blocks in total so far.

Top and bottom are the matches.  May and June here.

Traditional blocks (March here I believe)

You can use the traditional applique (which I've done in a couple) and I also used button stitch in the August one.  Both the above ones are August.

I want to use QAYG (quilt as you go) to get this done.  I'm looking at doing 5 in a row, with a shadow on each block (just need the right background for it as many have a white background).  Looking forward to seeing some of the rows done now as I already have at least 3 rows that I can start on.

Once more a big shout out to Sew Incredibly Crazy for doing this with some of her friends.  The blocks are free for the month, but to catch up you need to purchase them.  I missed June, so I purchased that one for $6 for 3 blocks.

August OMG Completed and a bit more....

Can't believe how much I accomplished this summer in finishing up a number of my UFOs and cleaning up my room.  There was so much unfinished UFOs and many of them were just sitting there, completed, but not sandwiched or quilted.  Well no more.....

Here's my OMG for August....  Hooking up to Elm Street Quilts.

All blocks are completed.  Look at the thread, it's a ribbon that I sewed on.

All attached together, all quilted.  the sides are light gray with sewing machine pictures on it, and thread, etc.  Really goes with the quilt theme.

Each block a bit of a sewing tool list

This quilt has a polar fleece backing, and no batting.  It's so thick as is.  And so warm as well.  You can't see the thread when I was quilting it.  I also didn't want to quilt the entire thing for the simple reason that the polar fleece is stretchy and I need the quilt to be flexible, so thus not a lot of quilting around everything.  It looks great as is.  This quilt project was two years old.  Finally completed.

But if you look closely, you can also see that I also completed another quilt, or rather added on to it.  This quilt was made quite a long time ago and I gave it to my mother last summer.  The problem was that the quilt was not big enough for her bed.  It needed to be widen.  So I did "Quilt as you go" and added borders to it.  Look at the quilt on the bed.  I added the black to the section in the front, and I also added it to both sides.  The entire quilt now fits the quilt with a hangover of 30 inches.  I made the edges, put batting in it, and then quilted it, inch by inch.  I used a variegated green on the farthest edge, then black on the rest.  The results were outstanding.

Looks fantastic.

And I've completed one more quilt, the Snowflake quilt by JetGirl.  I purchased two quilts really really cheap from FatQuarter and put the two together to try it out.  It looks spectacular, and it's another queen size quilt.

Who's quilt is it?  Seems when the cat was going to try to test it out someone was already there trying it out for size.  I did stitch in the ditch for the stars that are light gray and white, and then I echoed quilted around the snowflake.  You can see the lines.  I then stitched in the ditch for the black all around it.  The bias is also black, making a nice finish.
So there you go, three BOMs completed and up on my site.

Will show better pictures of the Snowflake on another blog posting.

On to the next three or four BOMs that I need to catch up or complete.....

August OMG.

If at first you don’t succeed try, try,.........  It's a queen size quilt, with a backing of a blanket that my aunt gave me.  It's even bigger than that polar fleece blanket.    I need to quilt it.  Here's what sit looks like now.

That's one of the blocks.....  Wait until it's entirely done, because that's the goal, having the entire quilt completed.....  Wish me luck. Hooking up to One Monthly Goal (OMG) at Elm Street quilts.  Check out all the entries, they're beautiful.

Try try again for April

OK, I didn't get any of my March goals completed, but I did get through a Round Robin that I got side tracked with.  But isn't the i...
