OMG finished

Hooking up to One Monthly goal over at Elm Street Quilts to show my results of sewing in the month of January.  Here's what I said I would do.  http://quiltinglikeamaniac.blogspot.com/2020/01/american-patchwork-quilting-2020-ufo.html.  Now I have to say (and this is no excuse) I lost my machine for close to two weeks so there was no sewing.  I went through withdrawal and now I KNOW I need to get an extra machine for situations like this because truthfully there is never a loaner with all the work they do at the repair shop.  And it always takes a week or two to get the work done.  So I need something portable, small, and does just the basics to make me happy when I have to send mine in for repairs.  So many people were giving me that advice and after that experience they're right.  But for now, I got my baby back and I've been busy to catch up.  Here's what I did along with my promise to get my goal done.

I've been trying hard to finish one of the BOM's that I joined last year.  There were 5 of them, and out of all of them two that I had worked hard at.  Now one of them was part of the goal and I've promised not to join another one (a promise that I broke within a week - Is that a record?????).  This one is Sew Incredible's Seasonal BOM which had two to three blocks every month.  I had to complete 6 of them to catch up and to have 24 blocks for my quilt which is a two panel door for my barn door between my sewing room and the dining room.  Here is what I completed:

 The doors

I shadow boxed each one, and used quilt as you go to get it done.  I did angle lines that were and inch apart.

I'm so happy with the results!!!  With that little side quilt (you'll see about that one) it looks lovely this room.

And because I have so many UFOs I wanted to complete two a month, so the 2nd one (and one I could do with out my sewing machine because it was applique that I button stitched) is a tea set table cloth for my table.  That was my husband's idea and a darn good one.  It gives color to the room at this time of hear.  Take a look.
On the floor, all laid out.

One of the blocks.  They're so cute all with batik.

Each one designed so differently on that pure white background that just pops the colors.

One of my favorite ones, with the greens.

I backed it with black because of the side panels were black and white.  I love this one as well because of the flower.

And the end results, super.....
So I may not have completed both panels but completing one panel then the table top makes me feel really good.  I'm pleased with the results.

So next month's goal, another one of my UFOs to complete.  Probably one of those BOMs that I never got done or even started on.  OMG!!!!  I better start a couple of them now!!

Was busy last weekend.....

And do you want to see what I finished?  OK!!

One of my Quilty Boxes.  Finally.  I love receiving these, but I never seem to find the time to do them, and meanwhile, the patterns and material (because you sure do get alot in those boxes - and the most amazing tools as well), keep on piling up.  But I made a promise to myself to get a few done, and this is one of them.  Isn't the redwork (the sewing) fabulous in the middle.  I'm so proud that I did it all myself.  Over a period of time of course  :)

And here is another one of those great row by rows.  But this one I'm keeping for myself.
The details.

and this one is staying on the back of my couch, where my lovely cat has decided with this quilt it's the most comfortable place to be.

3 blocks from a quilt that a friend gave me to replace the tea pot quilt that I made her.  This one is a little small, but all batique which makes the material something to die for!!!!

Four more for the Splendid Sampler.  I have 40 so far, and there's 100 to complete.  But I'm taking it easy and enjoying the process, because there's lots to learn on this one.

I've also completed another block for the Canadian Mystery quilt.  But you'll have to wait for that one.  All this and not one thing from my quarterly list of things to do for the first 3 months of the year.  I better get going on that.  Oh, and I did do a lot of work on my quilt for my quilt guild.  The tree is attached to my modern quilt and two of the thread leaves.  It's on it's way and I'm very excited about it.  Stay tuned for that one.  It's the only way you'll see something of the quilt before I had it in.  I think I have to complete the form first, then hand it in at the May meeting.  That's just 3 months away so I have to hurry.  I have one completed, this one on it's way, and one (the challenge quilt) that I have not even started, but I do have a pattern in mind.

Stay tuned.

Two more completed....

It's been quite a while since I have blogged in regards to my quilting, and there is reason why....  In the past six months I have lost two family members, my father in November and three weeks ago my brother.  It's been hard to say the least and with it comes many feelings swamping you.  But like most people I turned to quilting to release some of my feelings and to give myself a few hours of not thinking.  So in the end I've been doing a lot of mindless quilting and here are the results....

A word in the quilting....  Canada

Lady bugs quilt tabletop ... Great backing.

Flower Rows

Quilted quilt large..... With wandering, and free style flowers, and leaves on a vine....

And what else?...

Tea time, the BOM that started 6 months ago... On the last row, and all flowers are completed.... See some pictures of them in the making...

Two white strips around the flowers and then a green large strip and you're done....  so #8 is done, and almost another one, plus an extra for the table top.

OMG for April

Already April and where has the time gone?  The weather has warmed up, I'm able to go for warm walks, and less rain for staying in and sewing.  But I still have goals to meet and quilts to finish so here are my 3 goals for this month (yes, three):

1.  Finish the tea set quilt for my friend, quilting and all.   I have the tea cup row completed, and working on the final border of flowers.

2.  Complete my quilt from Zen Chick.  Haven't even started.  But the pattern is below and I do have the material.  A gift from my aunt for Christmas.  Love the style, can't wait to start it.  It's modern and simple at the same time.

3.  Do two blocks from my collection of Row by Row blocks.  After all I have 47 to go and the new series is coming in.  Which ones is unknown.  It's what ever takes my fancy...

And OK, one more, finish my modern quilt that has turned into a queen size quilt.  Thanks Marianne Haak who taught us this style of quilting to the Fraser Valley Quilting Guild.  Here wesite Quilting Edge gives a number of tutorials on how to do the blocks.  I started with the idea of doing 9 blocks.  I've reached 16, and am still counting.  I have one more row to complete to finish a king size quilt.  Here's the look so far:

One more row to go.

Anything more is extra - if there will be extra time??!!

Short and sweet.  Hooking up to RedLetter Quilts for the OMG listing.

Still at it...

I have been doing a lot of stuff this spring break but I still have time for sewing.  As promised I'm trying to clean up my sewing room and I made a list of things I wanted to do for Spring Break and for OMG - One more Gone.  Here's the list I said I would do:
    RedLetterQuilts
  1. I'm two behind on the Quilt Doodle Quilt - but that's about 7 blocks.
  2. I need to make my mini "Sew" block
  3. Want to start the tree design I've been talking about - Winter trees in Manitoba
  4. I still have to make another quilt from "Precut Primers" by Me and My Sister.
  5. Have to catch up on Pat Sloan's quilt along.  There are 5 blocks to do.
  6. Have to do at least one month (I'm really one month and a half behind) of the 365 days quilt along.  3" squares - wow!!!
And now I'm stopping.
But for "One Monthly Goal" (I think of it more as "One More Gone") I'm talking about completing the Birds on a wire (completed it)  and the Zen pattern.  The rest would be bonus and a long Spring Break time that I need to get my head back on.  That means sewing.

Here's some completed work:

A cover for my machine.  I quilted it using the new quilting rulers.  Loved the ease of them.  This is a pattern from the mini patterns from Cluck Cluck Sew.  #2 on my list.

Catching up on Quilt Doodle BOM - #1 done on my list.

These are with the others.  I'm all caught up.

Then there is something I started to cut before Valentine's Day.  I'm sorry, I forgot who's pattern it is and it's not on my list but I've done it.

I made a mistake on that last heart but I love the quilting I did with my walking foot.

Then the baby quilt that I still need to finish by quilting it.  It's from Quiltmaker Magazine March/April #168.  This is extra but still good.:

And finally I'm on the last row for the Garden Tea Party by the Quilt Company.  The tea pots are ready and so are the cups, it's the flowers to go.

The tea pots came together perfectly.  I'm happy with the results.  And the teacups (another day for those pictures) were great.

Busy week so far.  And more to come.

School has started but not yet for me....

There's not that many school TOC days on the listing online.  When there is one, someone snatches it right away.  Many new teachers are ...
